General recommendations before rain

Meteorologists can generally predict sustained heavy rainfall a few days in advance. During this period, you should keep abreast of the current weather developments, and gather information on the potential hazards associated with heavy rainfall (high water, flooding, landslides etc.).

Information on the potential effects and danger levels of heavy rainfall can be found here.

Advice on what to do in preparation for a heavy downpour or continuous heavy rain:

  • Keep an eye on local weather developments, and act appropriately, according to the information you  receive on the conditions.
  • Heed the push notifications on the  MeteoSwiss App.
  • Place  objects up high in areas or rooms that  are at risk of flooding.
