Starker Sturm auf der Alpennordseite und intensiver Dauerregen im Unterwallis, im Chablais und im Jura 

Zwischen Donnerstagmorgen und Freitagmorgen werden auf der Alpennordseite stürmische Winde in den Niederungen und starke Niederschläge im Unterwallis, im Chablais und im Waadtländer Jura erwartet.

Allgemeine Lage

Über dem Nordatlantik bildet sich derzeit ein Sturmtief namens «Benjamin», das sich am Donnerstag über die Nordsee verlagern wird. Das Sturmfeld erfasst am Donnerstagmorgen die Alpennordseite und führt im Unterwallis, im Chablais und im Waadtländer Jura zu ergiebigen Niederschlägen.

Wahrscheinlichste Entwicklung

Die stärksten Winde werden zwischen Donnerstagmorgen und Donnerstagnachmittag im französischsprachigen Teil der Alpennordseite und bis Freitagmorgen in der Deutschschweiz erwartet. Es werden Windböen in den Niederungen von 90 bis 110 km/h, in den Bergen oberhalb von 1000 Metern von 110 bis 130 km/h und sogar bis zu 150 km/h überhalb von 1800 Metern erwartet. Am stärksten betroffen sind die höher gelegenen Regionen des Mittellandes oberhalb von 600 Metern sowie der Norden des Jura und die Region des oberen Genfersees. In den Bergen sind die exponierten Lagen des Jura und des Alpennordhanges am stärksten betroffen. Die intensivste Phase wird in der Westschweiz zwischen Donnerstag 9 und 15 Uhr und in der Deutschschweiz zwischen 12 und 16 Uhr sein. Der Sturm lässt in den Niederungen voraussichtlich am Donnerstagabend nach, bis Freitagmorgen sind aber noch stürmische Winde bis 80 km/h möglich. In den Bergen lässt die Sturmphase erst am Freitagmorgen nach.

Zwischen Donnerstag 0 Uhr und 18 Uhr werden im Unterwallis, im Chablais und im Waadtländer Jura Niederschlagsmengen von 60 bis 90 mm erwartet. Die Schneefallgrenze sinkt von 2600 m auf 1600 m.

Unsicherheiten

Die genaue Zugbahn des Tiefdruckgebiets wird ausschlaggebend sein für die räumliche Verteilung der Sturmwinde sein, weshalb für die gesamte Alpennordseite eine Warnung ausgegeben wurde. Die mit diesem Tiefdruckgebiet verbundene Instabilität und möglichen Gewitter könnten lokal zu stärkeren Windböen führen, weshalb die angegebenen Windspitzen einen ausreichend grossen Bereich abdecken, um diesen Unsicherheiten Rechnung zu tragen.
